What is the weather like in your native country at Christmas?Here, in Spain, the winter is freezing cold.

Are you a religious person? What religion do you have? Does your religion celebrate Christmas?I'm not so religious; Catholic religion celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Do you celebrate Christmas in your native town? What does your town do for this holiday?Yes I have. My native town get lit and decorated with lights everywhere.

Do you like this celebration?Yes I like a lot to be in christmas because we all come together with their families.

Is it a family celebration for you?Yes, of cuorse. My family and I go always to a rural house and we spend there a week, near the snow in some pretty village.

Do you celebrate Christmas Eve, lunch or dinner?Yes, we have a great dinner to celebrate christmas eve.

Do you attend any special religious ceremonies?No, I don't.

Which are the main Christmas dates in your Country?The main Christmas dates in my town are Christmas Eve and the end of the Year.

Do you buy presents at Christmas?Yes, I do. I buy lots of Xmas presents for my sister and parents, and some for may grandparents.

Traditionally, who brings the presents in your country?In my country, “Los Reyes Magos” but at my home always brings the presents Santa Claus.

What kind of presents do you usually get at Christmas?I've always had few gifts; some clothes, money and a surprise gift.

Does your town get decorated at Christmas?Yes, it does. It becomes brighter.

Do you usually decorate your home?Yes, I do. I decorate my home with my hole family. I've just put the tree!

Do you put up a Christmas tree or a Nativity?Yes, I do. I put the tree with my parents and sister. It is so funny!

Do you have any traditional meals for this celebration?No, I haven't. Every year we eat somthing different.

Do you have any special food and cakes?Yes, my mum makes a Christmas fruit cake with fruits.

Do you drink any special drinks at Christmas?Yes, I drink Champagne or Cava :)

Do you celebrate New Year's Eve?Yes, I celebrate it with my family, having a dinner before the “Campanadas”.

What do you usually do on New Year's Eve? Do you have any special customs in your country on this day?Yes I do. I have to wear something red; it means that my year is gonna be lucky.

Tell us about anything that you think is special or different in you country or region at Christmas time?Everyone seems more friendly and generous. Christmas here is (like in most part of the world) a very cheerful time.

What special things are you doing this Christmas?I will go to a rural house with my parents and sister to spend there a week. It's always fantastic!

Do you think Christmas is still a traditional holiday?Slowly it is becoming a consumerist holyday but I hope that people will realize how important it is to be with family.

Mexicans celebrate Christmas with posadas. What is a posada?
A posada is a nine-day celebration with origins in Mexico beginning December 16th and ending December 24th. It is a tradition wich symbolizes the trials which Mary and Joseph endured before finding a place to stay where Jesus could be born, based on the passage in the New Testament.

In Rome, Italy, capitone is served on Christmas Eve. What is capitone?
In Rome, the traditional dish of Christmas Eve is "Capitone," a big female eel, roasted, baked or fried. North of Rome a traditional dish may be pork, sausage packed in a pig's leg, smothered in lentils, or turkey stuffed with chestnuts.

In Venezuela people listen to aguinaldos. What are aguinaldos?
The traditional songs of this period are called aguinaldos. In the old days the aguinalderos (singers of aguinaldos) would go from home to home singing their songs and playing traditional instruments such as the cuatro (a small, four strings guitar), the maracas (rattle) and the furruco (a small, elongated drum with a wooden stick in the middle. The movement of the stick slightly indented on the drums leather is what produces the sound).

In Provence, France, people put santons in a crèche. What are santons and what is a crèche? It means "little saints," colourful carved wooden or clay figures of the Christmas story. it means a three-dimensional commercial or folk art depiction of the birth or birthplace of Jesus.

In Japan, people are visited by Hoteiosho. Who is he, and why is he special?
They have a Buddhist monk called Hotei-osho who acts like Santa Claus. He brings presents to each house and leaves them for the children. Some think he has eyes in the back of his head, so children try to behave like he is nearby.

In Greece people have to protect themselves from Killantzaroi. What are Killantzaroi and how can you keep them away?
Killantzaroi are a species of goblins or sprites who appear only during the 12-day period from Christmas to the Epiphany (January 6). These creatures are believed to emerge from the center of the earth and to slip into people's house through the chimney.

Germans call Christmas Eve Dickbauch. Why is Christmas Eve called Dickbauch?
“Dickbauch" means "fat stomach" and is a name given to the Christmas Eve because of the tradition that those who do not eat well on Christmas Eve will be haunted by demons during the night.

In China, a very important person is named Dun Che Lao Ren. Who is it?
Father Christmas or Santa Clauss, is known as Lan Khoong (Nice Old Father) or Dun Che Lao Ren (Christmas Old Man) in Hong Kong.

My name is Alex, i live in Bezana. I was born on 26.01.93 and my star sign is acuarious. I like listening to music and go out on saturdays! I hate maths but I like so much english because, probably I will study it at university. My bestfriends are Sarah and Mireya and David, Adrian, Mario and Miguel... I am scared of tornados.
